Discovery is a Sunday School program for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. We begin in August of each year and conclude in May. On Sundays, your child will start off the morning in a fun and interactive large group and then, move to smaller groups with more specialized, age-appropriate learning opportunities. How do we take our Children from knowing about God to knowing God? Discovery's curriculum, Dig in: Epic Teachings of the Bible, and our committed teachers will engage them and provide creative, multisensory learning that immerses them in deep Bible teaching, helping them to know Jesus personally and grow in relationship with him. Together, they will 'dig in' to understanding Biblical concepts to guide them in their daily lives.
Milestones & Moments
Baby/Child and Parent Dedications
Dedications are a symbolic way for parents to affirm their call to raise children with an understanding that they are loved by God and can share Christ’s love with all. During our 11:00am worship, the people of our faith community covenant with your family to love, pray and support you and your children. Dedications are held monthly with the exceptions of July, October and during Lent.
Welcome to Worship
Welcome to Worship occurs in the spring on Sundays during the 10:00am and 11:00am hour. This is an engaging opportunity for children to visit the sanctuary, meet the ministers, hear from our musicians, learn about why we worship and how to participate. Children then process these experiences through play and conversation each week. At the start of the new school year, entering first graders participate in a special Welcome to Worship program during our 11:00 am Worship service—officially welcoming them into worship and each child receiving a Chalice pin as a symbol of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Third Grade Bible Class
Grade 3 | Sundays 10:00am
A six week series on How to Use My Bible culminating with the presentation of a Bible to each child as a gift from University Christian Church.
Grade 6 and up
A 10 to 12 week class offered by UCC Youth Ministry to provide the framework for children to begin to make faith decisions in their own way, such as, joining the church followed by baptism or confirmation.
